They are really trash I don’t get why they are reality famous?

not going against what you said but this is actually a technique used all around the world by chefs to see if the spaghetti is cooked

the kardashians are 100x more worthy of the word “trash”

they got famous because they represented a stereotype that people hate

they remained famous because despite being totally different from what people are used to seeing in reality tv shows [typically rich and attractive] they wound up being a nice family that loved each other

“hawhaw look at the fat white trash” isn’t really what you should be getting from their tv show and if it is all you get out of it then you’re probably a lot worse off than they are

Why would anyone think they’re trashy?

Is it because they don’t want to live outside of their means and refuse to change their ways just because someone is watching? Because instead of wasting the money the bring in from the show, June instead saves the money into college funds for her daughters? Perhaps it’s because June and Sugar Bear have a supportive and loving relationship that isn’t based on appearances, but on their personalities and their ability to make each other laugh and feel comfortable being themselves. Is it because when their oldest daughter got pregnant, they supported and continued to care for her and her baby and encouraged her to stay in high school instead of dropping out like so many other teenage mothers do? Or maybe it’s because they stand by Alana and support her ambitions of being a pageant girl, telling her that she is beautiful (or beautimous) regardless of whether she wins or loses? OR, OR, OR, it might be because every donation they get from fans and supporters goes to help centers for LGBT youth, and other charitable organizations?

This family gives back to their community, and practices love and tolerance and acceptance. I will defend them to the ends of the earth and I get PHYSICALLY ILL whenever someone dismisses them as Trashy or Disgusting.

THIS FAMILY IS THE REALEST AND MOST AMAZING FAMILY ON TELEVISION TODAY, AND THEY DESERVE TO BE ON TELEVISION MORE THAN THE KARDASHIANS, OR ANY OTHER FAMILY.

THIS IS A TRUE REALITY TELEVISION FAMILY.

Reblogging for the last two comments.

If anyone every tells me they hate Alana and her family because of how they look or their stupid assumptions of them based on very little knowledge, I will drop kick their ass

you painted me in pastel; a lizzie/darcy fanmix [listen]

the hush sound - the  artist; you painted me in pastel, colors that don’t tell of any boldness. that’s the way you’d love to see me: so delicate, so weak, so little purpose; | sara bareilles - gravity; but you’re neither friend nor foe, though i can’t seem to let you go; | alex clare - i won’t let you down; in so many ways, though we’re worlds apart, i will promise you i won’t let you down; | a fine frenzy - electric twist; you should be wilder, you’re no fun at all; | marble sounds - come here; baby let’s forget about this pride, come here, come here; | lucy rose - scar; i want you but i hate to say those words, but here i am standing right in front of you; | the lumineers - dead sea; i don’t gamble, but if i did, i would bet on us; | yeah yeah yeahs - hysteric;  flow sweetly, hang heavy, you suddenly complete me;

I went to the mall, and a little girl called me a terrorist.

My name is Ela.  I am seventeen years old.  I am not Muslim, but my friend told me about her friend being discriminated against for wearing a hijab.  So I decided to see the discrimination firsthand to get a better understanding of what Muslim women go through.

My friend and I pinned scarves around our heads, and then we went to the mall.  Normally, vendors try to get us to buy things and ask us to sample a snack.  Clerks usually ask us if we need help, tell us about sales, and smile at us.  Not today.  People, including vendors, clerks, and other shoppers, wouldn’t look at us.  They didn’t talk to us.  They acted like we didn’t exist.  They didn’t want to be caught staring at us, so they didn’t look at all.

And then, in one store, a girl (who looked about four years old) asked her mom if my friend and I were terrorists.  She wasn’t trying to be mean or anything.  I don’t even think she could have grasped the idea of prejudice.  However, her mother’s response is one I can never forgive or forget.  The mother hushed her child, glared at me, and then took her daughter by the hand and led her out of the store.

All that because I put a scarf on my head.  Just like that, a mother taught her little girl that being Muslim was evil.  It didn’t matter that I was a nice person.  All that mattered was that I looked different.  That little girl may grow up and teach her children the same thing.

This experiment gave me a huge wakeup call.  It lasted for only a few hours, so I can’t even begin to imagine how much prejudice Muslim girls go through every day.  It reminded me of something that many people know but rarely remember: the women in hijabs are people, just like all those women out there who aren’t Muslim.

People of Tumblr, please help me spread this message.  Treat Muslims, Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, Pagans, Taoists, etc., exactly the way you want to be treated, regardless of what they’re wearing or not wearing, no exceptions.  Reblog this.  Tell your friends.  I don’t know that the world will ever totally wipe out prejudice, but we can try, one blog at a time.

this is so perfect in absolutely every single way.

bless this girl for taking the initiative and painting this issue in big bold colors for everyone to see.
